Depending on the content of your book, you may need a specific eBook Format.
- As eBooks are digital objects built to be read on different devices, with different sizes and use, they are usually set to be "reflowable" so that the text moves to adapt to the screen's size and user's settings.
All the novels and fiction books in general are created with this approach and distributed in the ePub format 2.1, a format where the text is reflowable.
tip: ePub2 and mobi (for kindle) are equivalent for different brands
- However, some books with specific content may need to keep a specific layout of the texts and images whatever the screen size: that's where you need a Fixed Layout format - ePub 3.
In them the various elements (images, text, quotes, etc..) have a fixed position within each page of the book, a position that remains the same regardless of the device used for reading.
tip: ePub3FXL, KF8 and iBooks are equivalent for different brands
The evolution of the publishing market and technological advancement allow the further spread of the ebook FXL , which is very suitable for the fabrication of digital content such as children's books, technical manuals, cookbooks, picture books, guide books, comic books and school books .
Nota Bene: For now, Amazon only accept eBooks in Fixed Layout formats (FXL) for the following categories:
1. Children's book
3. School/university books with complex layouts.
