Organize your text

A book created with StreetLib Write can be made up of parts, sections and chapters. These blocks can be organized in a hierarchy: several chapters can be grouped into one section, and several sections into one part. Each of these blocks is characterized by a title, a subtitle if desired, and of course the body of the text.

- Part: a part can be used to group sections or chapters together. Each part will be referenced in the table of contents with whatever is written in its “Title” field. You can add text by typing directly or copying and pasting from your preferred word processing program (Word, Open Office or other). Sections or chapters created within each part are grouped together and will also be indicated in the table of contents.

- Section: A section can be used to group chapters together. Each section will be referenced in the table of contents with whatever is written in its “Title” field. You can add text by typing directly or copying and pasting from your preferred word processing program (Word, Open Office or other). A section will be listed in the table of contents under its corresponding part, followed by any corresponding chapters.

- Chapter: chapters are normally used to contain the body of the text. Each chapter will be referenced in the table of contents with whatever is written in its “Title” field. You can add text by typing directly or copying and pasting from your preferred word processing program (Word, Open Office or other).

Extra blocks also allow you to add the Colophon and Acknowledgments. Any extra content not fitting into "Colophon" or "Acknowledgments" should be added as chapters. For instance, if you want to insert a forward, an introduction or an epilogue, just create a chapter with the relevant title ("introduction", etc.) and position it in the book where it should appear.

Nota bene: Do NOT add your own table of contents and title page (author's name + book title), they are generated automatically by StreetLib Write when the eBook is exported. The table of contents will be follow the standard guidelines to allow readers to jump from one chapter to another on any device. There are no page numbers as they do not really exist in reflowable ePubs. Pages are created depending on the reader's device, not from the original book file. The readers can choose to see their own page numbers on their device (if they wish to).

Remember that the left navigation bar contains your "book map", showing you the overall structure of your book. You can change the order of your parts, sections or chapters by simply dragging and dropping. You can also quickly change their title.
